Excerpt

"You know, George," she said, pressing closer to him again, 'I have a
feeling that this is not an ordinary cruise at all. I have a creeping suspicion that something nasty is going to happen before very long. Perhaps it already has happened."
The Zagreb restaurant loomed up suddenly round a bend of the path. it was a converted paddle-steamer festooned with fairy lights, with a small orchestra playing on the foredeck. In the balm of the sub-tropical evening, first competed then merged with the noise of the crickets in the overhanging trees. The air was heavy with scents, of the flowers,
of the trees, of the wine and the exotic cuisine.
"Coming aboard?" Mason asked, feeling suddenly like a tourist again.

Professional Reviews

Spy Cruiser
"Oldham Chronicle"
'Danube Stations' is an evocative spy yarn set on a river cruiser, the Orsova,in the Communist era. The book
accurately draws down particular details of time and place and has a healthy period feel for its subject.
It has a good selection of interesting characters and a surprise ending. it will appeal to anyone who enjoys detective fiction and European travel
