A vampire watches silently as a coven of witches prepares a wooded site for a ritual
celebration. Contemplating the state of their meager existence and acknowledging
their ignorance of the One who made all in existence, the vampire laughs at their
actions. Choosing the most nubile young woman amongst them for her apparent lack of
fear, he places the rest in a trance and ravishes her body, feeding on her blood.
The fearless young woman enjoys the attentions of the vampire and gives herself freely
to his ministrations. Having been drained of almost all of her blood, she begs to be
allowed to join him in eternity as his slave and lover. Asked if she knows of what she is
asking, she acquiesces.
The young woman and the vampire begin the rite of transforming her from mortal to
immortal and the vampire begins to feed her his blood. But she requests the blood
come from where she has found the most pleasure. Having no compunction she feeds
on her fellow witches and leaves them drained and with no recollections.
Mr. J.L Day has written an interesting story of love and pity. The hero’s views of religion and the community of humankind are intriguing while the heroine’s willingness to enter into eternity for the sake of the sexual pleasures she gains is an interesting viewpoint. I would love to see this storyline expanded upon. It left me wanting more. It is definitely a keeper.
