There is far too much debate over the meaning and scope of the Rapture. This is not God’s intent. Rather, in regards to the Rapture, God wants us to “encourage each other with these words.”
Eph 6:11-13
11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ah, THE RAPTURE, what an intriguing subject! Scores of untold saints have wondered with great concern, "When will it happen? Will it be in my lifetime? Who of my loved ones will miss it and have to go through the tribulation, and then off to an eternal hell? Or will I myself miss it, and stand below watching the few lucky ones fly away into the clouds when the trumpet sounds?"
"What is the Rapture of the church?"
Answer: The word "rapture" does not occur in the Bible. The concept of the Rapture, though, is clearly taught in Scripture. The Rapture of the church is the event in which God removes all believers from the earth in order to make way for His righteous judgment to be poured out on the earth during the Tribulation period. The Rapture is described primarily in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 describes the Rapture as God resurrecting all believers who have died, giving them glorified bodies, and then departing the earth with those believers who were still alive, who have also been given glorified bodies.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven... found in verse 16 is clear and taken literally shows Jesus descending from heaven. Now if we use this passage literally for the rapture, a literal event, we must take the same approach for the remainder of the context and apply it literally, so He descends from heaven to rapture the church. One main error in hermenuetics comes when one mixes together symbolism claiming a figurative application and literal from the same contextual syntax, I will try to avoid this pitfall. When we answer why He descends, that point will also clear up confusion that is found in some's contradictory timings because of the local of Yashua, from heaven, that He descends from heaven. The point is clear, Jesus comes from heaven to appear in the midst of the clouds.
The reason that Jesus descends from heaven can be found in the next verse. verse 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Yashua comes for His bride. This is the rapture.
1 Corinthians 15:50-54 focuses on the instantaneous nature of the Rapture and on the glorified bodies we will receive. "Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed - in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed" (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). The Rapture is the glorious event we should all be longing for. We will finally be free from sin. We will be in God's presence forever.
