Imagine sitting in front of a cozy fire sipping on your favorite drink. The sound of your favorite instrumental softly playing in the background. The feeling of your plush carpet or bearskin rug against your skin feels so soft and soothing. Delightfully you open your new copy of " From The Mind Of Mentallllll" and begin to read, temporarily escaping your hectic schedules, complaining co-workers, ringing phones, and loud talking family members only to enter the skillfully woven world of Mr. Shannon Lejuan Clements...

From The Mind Of Mentalllll is a collection of poems that were compiled throughout the turbulent times of the authors' life. They express his thoughts on various topics and share some of his innermost feelings.

It was written to shed light on the law, human nature, and the innermost parts of the soul. The author has tried to put himself into other peoples' shoes so that he could let you see through their eyes.

From The Mind Of Mentalllll was also written to be entertaining. This is why the author, Mr. Shannon Lejaun Clements, wrote both a compilation of poems and a short story written in rhyme format. Each one of those poems contains a lesson to be learned and each one of those lessons were compiled into one short story in which is titled," Deceitful Ties".

Excerpt

The Forbidden Fruit of the Garden of Eden

Sitting at home late at night with thoughts of a deep subject
Relaxing while contemplating on how to turn evil into good without becoming a reject
How is it possible that one could cause us all to fall?
Instead of living a life of ease being eager to please to the first Man that stood tall
Why? Oh why! Did he have to listen to her misguided words?
That entered his eardrums and created pathways of electricity that gave a picture to what he heard
Let’s stop for a minute and take a look at what someone told him
“ I created the Heavens and the Earth and gave dominion unto them
Peace was their pathway and everything that I created I put into their hands
They obeyed you like you obeyed Me, from the deepest parts of the forests to the edges of the sand
But the Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good And Evil and the Tree Of Life thou shalt not touch
I tell you this for a reason and disobedience shall harm you very much.”
First of all what is it about the Tree Of Knowledge Of Good And Evil that made her pass the Tree Of Life?
What draws the attention of a woman? Not ugly things that bring along strife
But things that glitter and things of beauty that hold her attention in awe
A little nudge in that direction is all it takes to have her break the Law
Of all things in this world where can you look to find out what’s truly good?
Where can you look to find out how to make this world run like it truly should?
Was it really a fruit that you could eat there of?
Or was it something that you could mentally absorb form something that came from up above?
A book teaches you something that keeps you from making the wrong things right
Could it have been a forbidden book with powerful words that made us fall from the heights?
We thought that we were doing so good until these books gave us thoughts to ponder
How would you know you were doing wrong unless something told you so and made you wonder?
Since the opening of these books to the untrained mind there came about all manner of evil under the sun
That serpent, the wisest of all of the rest of the beasts of the field, made our eternal life come undone
Curses and wrath gave us struggle and strife
Why? Oh why! Did she pass the Tree Of Life?
The Garden of Eden was our innocence to bear
Forgiveness was the clothing that we were given to wear
If the fruit of the Tree Of Knowledge Of Good And Evil could be considered religious books
Then what is the fruit of the Tree Of Life? We really should find those hooks

A Hello Note To My Twin Boys

I was in search of money; the smell of it was in the air
As I held a ten-dollar bill under my nose another customer asked for my care
Scrape went my shovel hauling great piles of snow
When I finished I collected my money and off I would go
'Twas a journey traveling through Sherwood
Seeking money to secure my own goods
Taking care of myself just like I should
Because no one could care for me quite like I could
Knocking on door after door being turned away time and time again
Memories of knocking on your grandmothers' neighbors door in search of your mother
She thumbed her nose at me and I laughed because now she knew there was another
Finally the police station came into sight as I walked up the street
Thinking about Crysty and wondering if again we will meet
Then I heard two children laughing playing next to a blue car
They looked quite familiar, but I couldn't really tell from afar
My heartbeat quickened the closer you drew nearer to me
Such a good feeling overwhelmed me the sight of the two of you filled me with glee
Closer and closer you came to me, I could almost touch you you were so close
As if looking into a mirror I hoped and wished this was not a hoax
Then I was brought to an abrupt halt your neighbor didn't want me to reach you
Fore he tossed money into my sight blinding me, but I kept you in view
I'm sorry that I let money keep me away
The two of you were so close and I still remember it 'til this day
Then you were called into the house and that feeling left
Then misery set in as more snow came for me to heft
I saw your footprint in the snow and I measured it to mine own
They're so small I thought as I stood there for what seemed like ages
Could this be a major breakthrough wisdom passed down by the sages?
I could never forget you I thought of you the whole journey home
I sat alone wishing I could at least talk to you by phone
Then I awoke in the middle of the night deciding not to be held back
So what if my life is in shambles somehow I'll make up the slack
Delivering a message by night hoping not to disappoint you
All the money that I had earned you could have
I'll make more in time putting to good use my craft
As if telepathy were real I heard a voice say, "Yes!"
In the back of my mind someone also said that I had been blessed
Crysty called me the next day her answer made me sway
She told me that we had no children and there was nothing I could say
All that I know is that we consummated our friendship in June
Wondering if your birthdays are near a March moon
your births would've been when I was turning seventeen
When I turn thirty on March 9, 2007 you'll both be turning thirteen
In five more years the truth shall be told
For your looks will be plain to see for everyone to behold
I didn't know so please don't be angry with me
But do know that without you I lived in misery.

Counting Money

One one hundred, two one hundred, three one hundred, four
I got a whole lot of Money, but I need more
Five one hundred, six one hundred, seven one hundred, eight
I got so much money that I measure it in weight

Counting money brings me so much joy that the pleasure is immeasurable
Me being without it is not tolerable I must have piles of it sitting on my table
Just the smell of it makes everything irrelevant
I got to have it in huge stacks because touching it is pleasant
Ones, fives, tens, and twenties
Pile those to the left and keep the fifties and hundreds in front of me
I want to build a money bin and live like Scrooge McDuck
And bath in my coins while my nostrils fill with dust

One one million, two one million, three one million, four
I got a whole lot of money, but I need more
Five one million, six one million, seven one million, eight
I got so much money that I measure it in weight
I got so many ways to count money that dollar signs is all I see
Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and commodities is just another form of money to me
Gold bars, silver bars, and copper bars of bullion
Diamonds, emeralds, and rubies also get called on
Onyx, marble, pearls, and aquamarines
All fill one room with plenty of bling
Priceless paintings, vases, platters, and chairs
I got to have it all especially if it’s rare
Oil fields, mines, nuclear plants, and utilities
Even when it comes to the cash crops I gotta have it you see

One one billion, two one billion, three one billion, four
I got a whole lot of money but I need more
Five one billion, six one billion, seven one billion, eight
I got so much money that I measure it in weight

Deceitful Ties Excerpt
The rain came back suddenly with the thunder roaring
Lightning sizzled the night’s sky as the clouds lit up like a glow bugs courting
My baby was laying in my arms
As I remembered trying to keep her from harm
My mind exploded as if breaking through a brick wall
Just like the weather outside, my memories flooded me showing me what started it all…

I was hanging on the corner with my friends getting drunk, staying high
Then one of my workers came along about to pass me by
“Hold on yall, I’ll be right back. I gotta go handle this business.”
Swooooh! Went my breath as I inhaled that Acapulco with a light kiss
“Ay little fella, hold on for a minute, I gotta holla at ya!”
He stopped and looked in my direction and waited like a good little fella
I should’ve known that something was wrong because he looked nervous as I approached him
“Man, you out here looking sharp boy!” I said as I pulled his hat down by the brim
“But listen here you about a week passed due and I know that it’s about time for you to re-cop.”
“Man the damnedest thing happened. You won’t bel…” I cut him off quick and said, “Don’t come to me with any lame excuses so please stop!”
He continued by saying,” Man I was with this bitch the other day getting knobbed up feeling good.
This bitch had my dick so hard that you couldn’t tell if it was steel or wood
Then her girl came in, got undressed, and joined the party
One sucking my dick, the other riding my tongue, I was getting it all gee.
I came in the bitchs’ mouth and then she jumped on for a quick ride.
But the funny thing about it is that I had to keep swatting at the flies
Then I pushed the bitch off of my face, grabbed her hair, and shoved my dick in from the back
Talk about getting freaky, the other crawled up under her licking my balls and letting her cream go splat.
Then I heard laughing, kids playing around by the front door
The bitch turned around and pushed me back and I ended up on the floor
“Shhh…” she told me, “…Just step out on the back porch
That’s my boyfriend and his temper flames like a torch
You here by yourself, he got at least 3 or 4 other people with him
I don’t want you to get hurt…” “But I need my clothes…” “… Forget them!”
Now I’m out on the back porch butt ass naked, dick hard as a rock
Reeking of pussy and cum listening to the voices play the innocent flock
A quick distraction move and my clothes came flying out the back door
Quickly I put them on realizing that they got my heat, my phone, my knot, and my stash feeling sour to the core
I left mad as hell man knowing that there wasn’t anything that I could do
I came back later only to find out that they don’t live here, this is a base heads zoo”
“So basically what you’re telling me is that you aint got my money or my weed”
He said “I’m sorry…” then I socked him hard enough to make him fall to his knees
“I don’t want to hear that bullshit!” I said then put my foot dead in his chest
Then my boys cheered me on as I stomped him to a bloody mess
“Bitch get the fuck on and don’t let me see you again until you got my gee”
He limped away holding his mouth and arm for as far as I could see
I stepped back over to my homeboys and said,” Let me hit that to calm my nerves down.”
Swoooh went my breath again as I choked with a frown
“I gotta get out of here man and get some pussy to take the anger away.”
My boy asked me what happened,” Old gee call!” is all that I had to say

Still Living on my Feet by Tichaona Chinyelu

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
