Unable to disclose his gifts, a seemingly ordinary man’s quest to understand the reasons he holds powers to manipulate objects at will and alter an article’s chemical make-up is uncovered.  Although he possesses certain healing powers, he’s unable to heal individuals he chooses.  Rembrandt learns the supernatural powers used in building the Great Pyramids, Stonehenge, Coral Castle and many other previously unexplained phenomena from Howard, his non-biological grandfather.  He raises Cameron, a non blood-related son, exactly as his grandfather predicts, and finds not only is he a genius, but his gifts far surpass those of his own.  A chance meeting with Allyson, his first love, almost forty years after they originally meet, begins to divulge the reasons for his powers as he learns he’s touched the lives of several of her relatives throughout his life.  Cameron and Rembrandt visit Allyson’s young cancer patients and through Cameron’s fascination with the similarities in growth patterns, he develops a simple, inexpensive cure unwanted and unwelcomed by the medical profession.
