Curiosity overwhelmed her, and she peered inside the large hole. She could barely see past spider-webs that were weaved and undisturbed inside the hole. She got a quick glimpse of a small mattress that lay on the wooden floor. A thick film of dust covered the wooden floor in the small room.
Alice found it difficult to breathe.
Although, she saw nothing, an eerie feeling crept over her. She got the feeling someone was watching her, but who? What? It made her wonder, are we locked out? Or are they locked in?
That in mind, Alice grabbed for the doorknob again, determined to rescue the small child from her fate. A loud growl came from inside the walls. Alice jumped, and let go of the door knob. She ran down the stairs as fast as she could with Jack following close behind.
