After rescuing the lost fairies, Lily must escape the Queen's dungeons, defeat Denheroth and defeat the Dark Queen before she destroys the Kingdom of Fairies.

After escaping the Dark Queen, Lilly wrestles with strange dreams as she tries to figure out what role she is to play in her ever expanding world. Queen Eglarth herself has recovered and now seeks revenge. But when Lilly meets the fabled creatures of the Mystical Mountains, she learns secrets which will dramatically alter her course and change her world forever.

This is the long awaited sequel to the original book, The Black Fairy and The Dragonfly. Although this book is obviously aimed at younger readers, it has all the elements that older readers will enjoy as much, if not more. Competent and confident readers as young as 8 will not have much trouble reading this book and understanding its themes of courage, forgiveness, resilience, coming of age, good and evil and learning your place in a complex world.

Excerpt

Lilly remembered well the feelings of loneliness and isolation in the months and years she had spent on the edge of the Fairy Kingdom. She remembered also the terrible sadness after her parents passed into the realm of fairy ghosts. The Elders had banished her, for reasons she could not fathom.

“We cannot afford to trust that the same thing won’t happen to other fairies, that they too won’t be orphaned by some strange and dreadful curse,” they had said.

They had not blamed her directly, but Lilly knew it by the way their mouths formed the words and by the way their eyes avoided hers and by the insight deep inside her ever-thinking mind. She read it in the tone of their voices and in their posture as well. “If the body of a fairy has its own language, then theirs was loud and clear”, said Lilly often to herself, “You are responsible for their deaths.”

What a Delightful Read
Paul G Day did it again. After reading the first in the series of “The Black Fairy”, I loved the second book from the first word to the last.

Lilly and her three friends, the dragonflies, continue the quest to overrule and defeat the dark Queen after they had escaped from her clutches. She even freed all her Fairy friends and family and other furry animals, as they were captured as well. All the animal kingdoms know her by now with the name “Little Dark Angel” or “Black Princess”.

In her journey she got more and more friends, like a flea, called “Flick”. She also meets the Frog Lord and the Grasshopper Queen. With the help of them, and the fairy elders and the charms she was given with all the magic of all the Fairies combined, she and her other friends defeated Denkeroth and the Hornets and then the Dark Queen.

How? I don’t want to give up more. It really is worthwhile reading the series. Great books, not only for the young, for all ages. Loved them

An Imaginative Story
This is part two of the Black Fairy, Lilly, and her adventures. This is a creative and imaginative story that will capture your heart over the courage and perseverance of such a small creature as a fairy. Lilly is different from the other fairies because of her color and is not accepted by her own kind. She is adopted by some kindly dragonflies who give her a home. Lilly must face some obstacles and the evil Queen Eglarth. Will she be able to help her fellow fairies and other woodland creatures? Read this fascinating story and find out.

Middle grade children and older as well as adults will enjoy reading this wonderful tale filled with adventure, emotion and good against evil. I highly recommend this series.

Captivating
Author Paul Day continues to captivate young (and not so young) readers with his new sequel to “The Black Fairy and The Dragonfly”. In “Escape From The Dark Queen” the protagonist, Lilly the Black Fairy, once again triumphs over evil with her ingenuity and courage. Accompanied by her trusted and loyal friends, Lily battles wicked Queen Eglarth and saves her fellow fairies and the other woodland creatures from the queen’s evil clutches. The happy ending is delightful. Warmly recommended.
