They and their families have no idea how their lives will change for the worse the day Spanish priests and soldiers march into their village during the annual harvest ceremony. This well-researched historical novel reveals what life might have really been like for California Indians in the Spanish missions, institutions that enslaved Native Peoples and forced them to work and punished them when they tried to escape.
I'm so glad that you have published this book for young people about the atrocities that the Spanish carried out, not only for the native people of California but throughout South and Central America. It's a story hidden behind religious piety and time that needs to be revealed for what it was.
I have just published (posthumously) a book by Brian S. Goodson. He died on August 8 and didn't have the funds to publish it.
