PLOT
Now you need a plot. Plots are the major events that change direction unexpectedly. Without a plot, you have no story. You must show it throughout. There are three sections to a plot.
The first is the complication. (Jack was murdered on a cold February night. Mary wanted children until her first miscarrage. Betty didn’t want to leave Tom but his drinking was pulling them apart). That’s the main reason for telling the story.
The second is describing the crisis in detail (what happened to the above characters during their lifetime to cause the complication).
The last part is the solution to solving the problem; whether it was a mystery, romance novel or a memoir. It can be a happy ending or a sad one.
