This book is about a relationship between the one who makes goals and the one who makes holes. Two loves who grew up in the sheltered, imaginative, and far-off world of college moved in together, never realizing how different things would be, never realizing the difficulties of staying in love. This book is also about the romance and tragedies that come along with an age-gap relationship. A Vietnam War veteran and a black adoptee meet in Indiana, and they take a liking to each other. They are not just ships passing each other in the sea of life; they actually hook-up despite doubts that the relationship will work. The feelings between them are intense, making each day, each week, each month more intense than the last. But they become separated by distance. And more doubts emerge as to the longevity of the relationship. The question: How long can they last in their own little world until they start to see the world around them?

The play is about two stories. In the past, Sanders sought a wife; Martha sought a single life. Martha cheated on Sanders. Sanders was no longer able to trust her. She could not help being unfaithful and every time she was it hurt her. Throughout the play, Martha seeks out the meaning of love while Sanders seeks the meaning of life after serving a prison sentence. Another thing, a second theme running parallel to the theme of love is the theme of acting on what you believe in no matter the consequences. Martha also has parents who do not like the boyfriend, and she must decide between him and her parents.
This is also a play about Jonelle and the lives of people she was unintentionally mean to. His story is a typical story about a woman who falls in love, gets married, has kids, and works at a white collar job. The people she inadvertently hurts are her sister who is pressured into being like her and her daughter who is also pressured to be like her.

Fringe and Frivolity is about the fringes of society and the fringes of the mind. Everyone belongs to some sort of fringe group; they are called niche groups. It means that you belong to a group that is not mainstream, not normal, not common, distinctly you. Frivolity, though not related to groups of people, represents a fringe of the mind. It is not serious; it is not to be taken seriously. These are poems that are written along the fringe of free time, free time being the fringe of our day. It is what we write on the Sabbath, the fringe of the week. It represents that time that is not normal, not common, distinctly you. It is what is written in our “me” time, in the time where we do not focus outward, but instead focus inward, into the recesses of our mind.

Love, Not Love is my first book. Poems in this volume are separated into two categories: what is love and what is not love. “Love” does not necessarily mean romantic love and “not love” does not necessarily mean hate, but it might represent a quality that does not sustain a long-term relationship. I had the idea for this book because I had recently broken up with someone I thought I was going to live my life with. The realization that we were not in love was a huge disappointment to me since we had been together for several years. Soon after, I fell in love again, but I wanted to make sure that what we had was true so that I would not be setting myself up for disappointment. I spent a lot of time talking with friends, family, and acquaintances, from newlyweds to people who have been married for decades, about the definition of love. When I started to apply what I learned to my own experiences, I began with defining what love is not then proceeded to define what love is. This book is the result of my findings.
Love, Not Love is my first book. I have always found reader response to be more interesting than author response because when the author responds it is definitive. When the reader responds-well, there is usually more than one reader-that is existentialism and philosophy-and sound!

Valley of the Mind’s Shadow is a book of poetry based on Psalm 23. In Psalm 23, the Bible mentions the “valley of the shadow of death.” Ame Ai believes that this valley lives in all people, in our minds. The valley is where angry and sinful thoughts reside. Christians believe that all human beings live in sin. Sin is defined as being apart from God. One does not live in sin only when they break the Ten Commandments, but any moment that the person is apart from God. God is light, and living apart from God is living in darkness even if all we are doing is breathing. A sinful thought is a thought that does not include God and does not lead to living a righteous life.

Some of these poems will have similar themes to the prose she has written before, but with more freshness, variety, and conciseness. When she writes of toxic relationships, she does so in a way that makes her poetry powerfully potent. Most of these "poems" are intended to be lyrics and often have repeated choruses and indications of note or note length. In her early works, she shied away from rhyming schemes, preferring free verse. However, in this book, she embraces the power of rhyme, full rhyme and slant rhyme to make her words come to life.
