It is the first of the year: New Year’s Day. It was also her first day on the job at a car manufacturing shop. A blue-jeaned stranger in the hallway greets her with “Bonjour” because she was wearing a shirt adorned with the Eiffel Tower. Later, he walked to her desk, sat down, and greeted her with another French greeting, “Salut.” This interesting man intrigued her. She wanted to know more. She did not have the time to ask him questions by the time he walked out the door.
Her coworker walked her around the office and downstairs in production. One of the first people he introduced her to was the interesting gentleman who greeted her. His name is Yue Lao, and he was one of a kind. She was stunned into silence by his locks of white and his almond eyes, having now had the chance to appreciate them. He wore his hair swept back, parted in the middle, like a stud from the ‘50s. He stood tall above her with his skin slightly lighter than her own from a tan. She smiled brightly as his eyes reached into her soul (though at that time he was really undressing her with his eyes). They smiled back at each other so long that her coworker looked back at her, and then slightly glanced at him. She and her coworker moved along to the nextimportant person to meet. She was not to know it, or perhaps she knew it and did not utter it or think it aloud, but that chance encounter was her love at third sight. She says jokingly, she is not so naive to fall in love at first sight, like a lovestruck puppy.
