Mining The Past For Hope and Motivation in The Present

Few things are as valuable in our modern times as the recovery of a digital archive containing almost a decade of an author’s work that exists, so far, in no other form.

The National African American Cultural Arts profile on Facebook was originally founded as an actual column on Examiner.com in 2009. A lot of headlines throughout 2025 going into 2026 have been disturbingly reminiscent of news stories published on the site from 2009 until the Examiner went offline in the summer of 2016.

Some 2025 headlines have crushed collective hopes for the future while others have made them more resilient than ever before. The original National African American Art Examiner column ––it evolved over the years into the National African America Cultural Arts column–– was founded during challenging times such as these.

Recent digs through the 2009-2016 archives resulted in a new article titled "Witness, Voice, and the Battle for Clarity: Existential Editorship in the Writings of Du Bois, Camus, and Aberjhani" published in the AI Literary Chat Salon. It says a lot about why hope for the rest of the year 2025, and resilience in the years ahead, should never be abandoned, and why freedom and democracy must never be taken for granted.
