In general, the concerns that drive one writer or another to write can be wide and varied. But the core reasons that drive this writer are, I believe, what drives most writers: the desire and need to have our thoughts and ideas read and heard by the widest audience possible (at least wider than the supportive circle of family and friends that are hopefully in the background of every writer’s life as they are in mine).

As far as fiction goes, my genre of choice, most of my writing is driven by a need to get onto paper in a semblance of order the scenes and characters dancing through my brain, they too, all demanding to be heard. Once this is done, I think the most important thing any writer wants their writing to have accomplished is that her reader goes away having been entertained; having had his soul fed, his funny bone tickled, his intellect (or his loins, in the case of erotic romance and erotica) stimulated and his thirst for action and adventure quenched. In the end, I think that these are the most, and best that any writer can hope to achieve and what drives us all—writer or not.
