Mums, the Last Dance

Why mums seem to bother me.

From front porches to displays of corn

shucks and cushaws, they glow. Vermilion,

yellow ochre and chrome yellow say the tubes

in my paintbox. Mums say the same with

a sense of urgency . They are ephemeral.

So are we but as annuals they flame and flirt with

death. Coolness wraps us like a ragged housecoat.

Mums like old maids are the last ones to go.

The last dance and last chance for blooming.

Thank you for this one. Poems that can elict responses in depth are rare and pricless.

Very enjoyable read with interesting structure and nice flow. Love the word choices, especially "ephemeral."

Yes the last to go into winter. Sometimes roses stay on til frost time though. I see Mums in all colors and are selling well here in PA for fall porches etc.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
