Born in Brattleboro Vermont, raised in Westchester County NY, I attended High school in Newtown Connecticut and worked 8 months as a psychiatric aid at Fairfield mental hospital for the criminally insane. Joined the Navy in 1967, and for the first time sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge in a destroyer escort in 1967 during "The summer of love". I was in Southeast Asia from Feb. 28 '68, after 2 years, returned Feb. 29, '70. I received my AA from the College of Marin, and in '72 went commercial fishing in Alaska. At the College of Marin, I majored in journalism, and economics, continuing on to SF State. From '73 to '87 sold automobiles, everything from VW to RR, Bentley and Mazeratti.1988. I joined the Navy's Special Boat Unit X 1 in Vallejo, and went to Bahrain during the Iraq/Iran war. In '89, I went back to sea with the Navy's MSC as a Civilian Merchant Marine, and '90 part of Dessert Shield/Dessert storm. In between ships I worked as a Hollywood Extra, and joined SAG in '95. In '91, I started shipping on oil tankers for Chevron. In 1999, I began shipping on high speed commercial container ships to Asia. In 2007 published Uncharted waters. The Summer of '72, Haight Ashbury to Alaska, published by American Book, will be released July 15, 2010
Three young men and a gritty, hard-edged captain are shoehorned
into a 32-foot fishing boat in the vast, cold waters of Alaska. This
is the setting for the fascinating reminiscences of Ted Soderberg
about his long summer college vacation in 1972. Jaded with
the remnants of psychedelic hippie life in San Francisco, Ted
chooses to spend the summer months not living the easy life onthe beaches of Cancun or St Petersburg, but enduring the harsh,
exhausting conditions onboard a commercial purse seiner in
Southern Alaska.
Hilarious and awe-inspiring by turns, Soderberg narrates the story
The Summer of '72 ,from Haight Ashbury to Alaska, will be released July15, 2010

Another great place for writers and readers
I was a background actor for fifteen years, and was perfectly happy to remain that way. I met some of the most glamorous people in the business, I went to places I otherwise never would have. I had been to multimillion dollar estates with Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Bentleys in the garage. I had been in intimate situations, and exotic parties in Beverly Hills. Occasionally I was treated like an A list star, and on more than one occasion sought after for autographs. Does this sound like something that might interest you? Could you handle being given a shot at something you could only dream of? Do you yearn for being part of the entertainment business; the bright lights, the limos, and your own trailer? Do you crave to rub elbows with stars, and to be treated special as though you actually had talent? Then continue reading.
