I have been driven to write all my life--music, poetry, short stories, and novels. I like to think it's a genetic thing, as both my father (William J. Reed) and brother (W. Craig Reed) are published writers. However, I chose family commitments over pipedreams.
About four years ago, however, I reached a turning point and decided I needed to pursue the dreams I'd put off most of my life. So, I made a list of things I'd always wanted to do but never given myself permission to pursue. 1. Get a tattoo. 2. Write a book. 3. Send it to publishers. 4. Learn to ride a motorcycle. 5. Get a blackbelt.
Well, I got the tat, and I wrote the novel, Dark Secrets. Much to my surprise, a publisher picked up the book, and reader feedback was very positive. Response was so glowing in fact, I dared to write two more books. Forbidden Fantasies and Emma's Choice were picked up by Rain Publishing www.rainbooks.com the following year, and are now in print.
My work is officially called Romantic Suspense, but in many respects, I believe it is far more than that. In my humble opinion, it's tough, gutsy, raw, real, hot and riviting. I strive to grow and improve with each new novel, and bring my readers a story that is well worth their time. So, here I am--still relatively unknown, but determined to follow a dream, live the passion, fulfill my destiny. I'm full of stories yet to be told; I guess you could say I'm a late bloomer.
I am, indeed, my father's daughter...writing is in my blood. For me, it is a need that's akin to breathing. I write because I can't NOT write. It's as simple--and as grammatically incorrect--as that.
