I was involved in a car accident at the age of fifteen. My boyfriend who just turned eighteen was killed. I was comatose for over five months. I was in a deep coma for approximately two months and semi-comatose for over three months. During the latter part, I experienced alot of pain, confusion and frustration. When I was dismissed from the hospital, I became aware of a different problem, obstacles. I learned how to love myself again. I researched my book. Amazingly I was able to mirror my feelings of the day to the doctor and nurses' notes. I began penning my memories and I wrote about the many obstacles I encountered and how I believe they should be dealt with. I wrote Waking up for coma recoverers,their families, the newly disabled or for the merely curious. I stress the fact that it is not only the person who is comatose that suffers. The entire family suffers. I give all glory to God.

I relearned walking, talking, eating, dressing, and rematuring. I have given several speeches to various schools, churches, I graduated with my high school class, and Waking Up was published.
