Standing up for the rights of Transparent Americans

I'll admit that Halloween sparked my interest in the Pro-After-Life movement, but I am truly dedicated to preserving the rights of our transparent brothers and sisters.

There have been several movies about 'ghost busting,' and they've all approached the subject with varying degrees of vivocentrism-- the attitude that 'living' people own the world, and non-living people don't belong here anymore. Various cruel and/or humiliating methods are employed to 'clean' houses and buildings and evict the former residents.

This is just downright rude!

Ghosts are people, too! They're not evil ghouls out to destroy you; they're people who used to live in your house and still feel like they belong there. What's the big deal about sharing it with them? It's not like they're going to eat all your food or run up your phone bill, like some deadbeat 'living' friends might do!

What gives us the right to 'banish' ghosts? Weren't they here first? And what if being a ghost is a necessary step in personal evolution? If it is, then the 'ghost busters' are meddling in karma... which isn't a good idea under any circumstances.

A person's rights don't die with the physical body. If we retain our personalities after death, it only stands to reason that we continue to have the right to the pursuit of happiness-- and if that happiness can be found in spooking people at three o'clock in the morning, well, the 'living' will just have to respect their elders and put up with it. Our turn will come someday, too.

Every word of your essay has the ring of truth. And they are all supported by a coherent theme, a sense of justice, and a keen wit. BTW, those elements are also the sum and substance of a well-written composition. Thanks, Darlene. I look forward to more of your wisdom.

This is definitely evidence of an active mind ... plus it has the energy of a superior writer's use of language ...

Good stuff!

Best,
Gus

I certainly agree with this and hey my ghost friend has a habit of biting some really despicable people and I do mean that.
