Chicken Soup and The Fisherman

Chicken Soup for the Single Parent's Soul
Stories of Hope, Healing and Humor

“Every single parent has a different story to tell, but a common thread of hope and comfort unites them all.”

None can tell the story better of a son wanting to learn how to fish and a single mom that does not than Cynthia Borris in THE FISHERMAN.

Wade into the action as Jake concocts an idea to send Mom to a Parents Without Partner dance to snag a fisherman!

“Being a single parent can sometimes seem overwhelming. But the joys and triumphs of this special responsibility are incalculable.

Whether you are a single parent because of divorce or widowhood, by choice or by surprise, you are part of an extraordinary club, shouldering the many obligations and responsibilities of parenting alone.

Chicken Soup for the Single Parent's Soul shares the joys, challenges and humorous moments of single moms and dads, who cope daily with the unique pressures, constraints and sacrifices this important role brings. From daily struggles to amazing triumphs, this book captures the breadth of experiences that define single parenting.

Within these pages you will find inspiration and advice for getting through the difficult times, reassurance for those days when you worry you're not living up to expectations and reminders of the unique influence you have on your children's lives.”

Good old Parents Without Partners (PWP). I sure remember having my daughter talk me into PWP so that she could control the apartment while I was away.

We both lived through it -- but barely. Many a lass ended up on crutches after dancing with me.

Cynthia, I joined PWP while raising two children on my own. The children weren't really interested, but I got to go to the dances and met many friends, some I still keep in touch with. Eventually I also met the love of my life who is still with me after 25 years. I believe I was quite an eligable bachelor, but I stayed away from the ladies looking for a quick fix to their lost relationship, which was a recipe for disaster. You seem like such a happy person and I am sure things will work out, but you can't make relationships happen, you have to let them happen.

Sounds like something any kid would try whether he/she had a single parent or not. I remember going to a friend's mom to help me learn to take care of plants because mymother was not interested in gardening. these books have a universal quality
