There is the ocean
It ends right here at my feet
If I step forward my feet will get wet
I am at the edge of the ocean
Where does the ocean go?
. . . the other edge?
I can see it right out there
It is a straight line
When the breeze is gentle
And the sun is warm
The far side of the ocean is most pleasant to contemplate
I love the far side of the ocean
I look at it often
Even with my powerful telescope
It does not change
Well maybe a little when storms come
But it remains basically the same
No matter where I stand along this sandy beach
Or perhaps on one of the high bluffs
Even if I should walk along this beach an hour
A day
A week
Or even a month
The far side of the ocean remains
Right out there
