The world's most expensive sandwich, priced at £85, has gone on sale at Selfridge's department store in London.
Between two slices of fermented sour dough bread is stuffed a filling of foie gras, black truffle, fine brie cheese and red pepper confit.
But the crowning glory, and the reason behind the price tag, is the generous helping of Japanese Wagyu beef.
The cows that produce the 'caviar of beef' lead a life of luxury, eating the best grain and slurping down copious quantities of beer and Japanese wine.
They also receive weekly massages, in the belief that relaxed cows make better beef.
The resulting meat is a far cry from a hamburger, but customers wishing to try the luxury creation will have to order a McDonald sandwich.
This is due to the name sandwich inventor, chef Scott McDonald.
McDonald thinks his creation will be a hit with shoppers, but retailing at around £2 a mouthful, it won't be to everbody's taste.
