Story about my grandboys.

      

                 

                        

                         "Pa, It's Moving"


 

It was a usual Monday afternoon taking care of the grandboys, James and Thomas.  They were eating, and I had just completed cutting the grass and had come into the house for a rest. 



 

 It was at that time that I noticed two tiny creatures crawling on the back of Thomas’s neck and immediately told my wife that it appeared to be ticks.


 

Well, this turned a typical afternoon into a big event.  She came over and announced that they were ticks and was able to take one off immediately.  However, when she came back for the second one, it had become imbedded in little Thomas’s neck.  She tried for a few minutes to get the tick dislodged to no avail. 


 

 Little Thomas’s mother, Donna was then called and informed my wife that finger nail polish remover was in the bathroom.  While she was getting the polish remover, James, the four year old was trying to get the tick off.  Thomas, of course with all of this attention and not knowing what it meant, begins to cry. My wife returned with the solution and I held Thomas’s head while she applied the remover.  


 

Suddenly Thomas said “Pa, it’s moving”.  My wife was then able to remove the tick.   James then said that we needed to get some Vaseline from the bathroom, as Thomas’s neck was rather red.  This, of course, was a good suggestion for a 4- year- old.


 

So the tick was removed and slowly but surely things returned to normal.  As I am writing this, it is Tuesday, one day after the ordeal.  I was reminded how an ordinary day with the grandboys turned into a not so ordinary day.  In looking back, I realize that this was two grandparents and two grandboys teaming together to complete a task and, boy, did we have team work.

Looking at these two little boys, my mind can not help but think what lies ahead for them.  They are certainly the apple of their dad and mom's eyes.  And oh how I love them both.  It really does something to you to observe children as they grow day by day learning a mile a minute, it seems.  I wish that we all were as innocent and pure as they are now. They are really angels sent to us by God.
