A teenage Somali boy has stabbed to death his father's killer in a public execution ordered by an Islamic court.
Large crowds gathered at a Koranic school in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, to watch Mohamed Moallim, 16, stab Omar Hussein in the head and throat.
Hussein had been convicted of killing the boy's father, Sheikh Osman Moallim, after a row about Mohamed's education.
Islamic courts have brought a semblance of order to Mogadishu, imposing Sharia law after years of rule by warlords.
However there is some opposition to the courts. A group of warlords has been fighting a militia loyal to the Islamic courts, which they accuse of links to al-Qaeda.
Under Sharia law those who commit murder are punishable by death.
Keeping the peace
Hussein was tied to a stake and had his head covered by a bag ahead of his execution.
He shouted "There is no God but Allah" as Mohamed Moallim stepped up to take his revenge.
Speaking afterwards, the boy said he felt satisfied that Hussein was dead.
"I am happy now because I killed the man who killed my father," he told the Reuters news agency.
The execution marked the first time the local court in the Bermuda district of Mogadishu had handed down a death penalty, local media reported.
Residents in the nearby area have reported a drop in robberies, murder and general lawlessness since the court began its work, Radio HornAfrik said.
There has been no effective central government in Somalia for 15 years, leaving warlords to fight for control of local areas.

Dearest precious angel,. oh how I pray daily, Peter for these radical Islamists.. Such darkness.. This earth precious and beautiful earth mother is totally battling the darkness, yet there is so much light, so much goodness try to bring in the Fathers Warring angels in. I speak prophesy towards the Heavens to exterminate not the people but their awful dark spirits.. The Lord is our mighty and comforting Shepherd, Peter.. His tiny lambs rest in His arms ( we ) …I am careful what I filter my mind, heart in, what I read.. Everyday is a new day to place wondrous, loving thoughts of the precious God above…Satan is a real spirit that wants us all dead!!!!!! I see so many in this world that are simply covered in darkness by demonic angels...I truly place light around those precious ones.. I think God is an incredibly large spirit, in the heavenly realms.. His spirit is very aware of all the intercession we do, very aware of His lost sheep, dearest precious Peter.. and he is the only one that can order his kingdom to battle for good.. I pray Michael Archangel does set these people back in Fathers loving Shepherd arms.. They seem and appear like horrible people.. But Peter, the Father did not make horrible people..It is the spirit in them and it is the extremist views taught them.. WE must keep wishing time will change things.. I know one thing, they are hiding in America, and believe me, they are already dead if they harm Americans..This earth, Peter is cleansing itself psychical, emotionally and spiritually.. This is why you see all the weather changing and the mixed up people leaving by the hundreds on earth..God is forming a cleansing to heal his lost sheep and bring them back..Your a voice for awareness and I honor you...We are all His lambs.. Some dear precious Peter, are simply wondered away from the Shepherd.. Let us keep praying so powerful, like the most we have ever prayed.. The earth is calling us and the Heavens are calling us to pray powerfully.. This is how things are changed in the Heavenlies..

This is awful. Kids should be kept away from violence as much as possible. To have the child commit the act of violence, whether it is 'within' the law and order of excecution or not, can't be good for the child, ever.

Yep, and the librals in this country and elsewhere shout things like George Bush is more of a terrorist than bin Laden. The ACLU sticks up for the terrorists and condemned the United States for executing convicted murders after 20-30 years of appeals and after the murder has outlived some of the victims relatives and grown fat on the public's dime. Boggles the mind and pisses ME off.
