Told to me by a friend in S. Texas.

In a town in Southern Texas, the residents of a new , high end, neighborhood; found an interesting solution, to, what's becoming a common complaint. They were having a terrible problem with trash on the side of the road, and elsewhere, around their neighborhood.
They, found the source: the six new homes, ....big ones, being built by a local contractor,
The trash was being left, and strewn about, by the Mexican crews working at the construction sites. (McDonald's Bags, Burger King boxes and napkins, and all sorts of litter, from lunches and breaks.

They went to, and  pleaded with, the site supervisors , general contractor, called the City  Police, dept. and the  Sheriff's office, all, to no avail.
There was talk of fines and such, but nothing was implemented, and the trash kept, piling up. In addition, the strong, Texas, winds, were blowing it, all over the neighborhood.

So, they called an emergency, home owners association, meeting, and came up with a possible solution.
They put together a team, about twenty, or so, volunteers, named themselves "Inner Neighborhood Services". They planned to go themselves,  at lunch,
time and again at 4 or so, to "police" the trash.

Their plan, however, had another aim, besides, them, picking up somebody else's trash.
It was not an accident that the initials for, inner neighborhood services, were: INS.
They authorized some purchases  from the home owners fund, and bought some navy blue baseball caps, and had the initials "INS" , in Gold lettering, put on them.
You're obviously getting the idea, they didn't plan on doing this more than once.
Hopefully the attire, and official look, of their clean up,  would spur some, permanent changes, to the littering, and  a general, lack of respect for the neighborhood, and it's citizens.

Well, on the day of the clean up detail,  they wore their caps and carried cameras, as they picked up the garbage, for hour and hours.

The very next, day:  46 out of the 68,  construction workers did not show up for work, that morning, and haven't come back yet!!!!! It has been, about ten days, according to the friend, that told me this.

The General Contractor,  was understandably, madder than hell, but couldn't say anything publicly, in fear of being fined, or worse, for hiring, Illegals.

But the
trash, is not accumulating, again, as more laborers are being added to the contractor's work force.

Looks like, they don't want another visit, from, the INS, huh?

What's that old cliché? If you want something done right, do it yourself.  Good old American ingenuity, hard at work.----------------  Art-----------
