In his first communiqué to Israel troops fighting in Lebanon, chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz writes: Israel is engaged in combat against Extremist Islamist Terrorist Organizations

They repudiate the Jewish state’s right to exist, as do their sponsors Iran and Syria. They are all bent on striking at Israel’s sovereignty. The provocations Hizballah and Hamas staged inside sovereign Israel caused the conflict to escalate and led to the abductions of Cpl. Gideon Shalit and reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev. It is our responsibility to defend our country’s independence and integrity and the safety of our citizens. Combat in the North has added to the force of warfare in Judea, Samaria and Gaza and may be long-lasting.
This may well be the case but isn't it time the whole world brought such econnmic, social and politcial force against both nations to cease the senseless deaths of so many on both sides of the line.
