Think you've gotten some horrible rejection letters...?

For those of you who haven't run across the site http://www.rejectioncollection.com, you should check it out. Writers and artists submit their rejection letters along with how the letter made them feel. Some of the writers step over the line in their criticisms of the editors and need to understand that rejection is part of being a writer and learn to chill. My rejection letters tend to be either excruciatingly polite or downright rude. A lot of the ones on the site are hilarious and those are the ones I enjoy.

I love the quote from the writer's editor where he says that the book would only appeal to the writer's readership. The writers response? - Huh? That would have been mine too. I mean, what's wrong with appealing to your readership?? Then there's the one from the agent that says, I liked your letter, but I'm dead (then they crossed out dead and replaced it with retired.) How funny is that? If I must be rejected that's the way to have it done.

If I'm ever fortunate enough to be rejected in this way, I'm going to frame it and hang it on the wall by my desk. Rejection is hard, sometimes cruel, and always frustrating. So I truly enjoyed browsing this site. After all, sometimes you just gotta laugh or go crazy.

I know this site and it does help me with my self doubts even before I send something in. Humor can really smooth over those sharp edges that poke you in life. Liz

They are funny. I remember one that I got that said they didn't accept time-travel. I write thrillers and the novel covered a period of five years. I'm still laughing about that one, even gave a speech on it once.

Good points...
