takes the reader to India. Folklore, romance and intrigue...another winner by Loretta Chase.

This tale is poetically lovely from the very first words.  Althoug the time period is Regency, the setting shows the clash of passionate colonial India with English sensibilities.  I'm only on page 60, and I already love this story.

Loretta Chase doesn't resort to "cheap tricks" employed by other novelists--the obligatory rift between him/her two-thirds of the way through to set up the final drama.  Oh, I know, it wouldn't be the romance novel without obligatory drama.  Yet I love it when the drama is humorous and tender.  I hate when the "hero" turns cold and thoughtless for twenty pages, then the heroine takes him back without a qualm once he recognizes his true love.  This tired sequence doesn't usually occure with Chase--although Scoundrel followed the pattern.
Sandalwood Princess is one of my "cruise collection" which I'll take to Puerto Rica. I also have Fredericka by Georgette Heyer and another Loretta Chase, The English Witch.
