The stormy seas of life.

                           Sailing on Life’s Seas

From the time we enter this world, we are on troublesome waters it seems.  Childbirth itself although we don’t remember anything about it, has to be traumatic to us on some level as it is happening.

As the days go by we grow, become stronger and move towards that ultimate goal which God intended for all of us, and that is launching into life.

Usually are minor the problems most of us encounter.  Bit by bit we are constantly moving towards that day when we leave home and start families of our own.  But before we get there  many of us have already witnessed pain, sorrow, disappointments and hopefully more ups than downs on this journey.

When we are old enough to start school, we realize we are in a wading pool.  When we start school this becomes a small pond and if we have not already sensed it, we see that the world does not revolve around us.

After being in school for a while we see that there are final goodbyes.  Most of us are fortunate though and don’t have to examine death close up until a little later.

As we move through high school, our ship is sailing on a larger body of water.  We notice the opposite sex in a much more close up way.  It is during these times that most of us have that first in love experience and are placed in touch with perhaps our first heart break.

The sea of life sees many of us sailing on peaceful waters at least for a while after high school and college.  What we don’t fully realize is that stormy weather will come and go for the rest of the journey.

Most of us meet someone and get married and start our own families.  We have never imagined the worry and stress that we are about to enter as our own children come into the world and we attempt to prepare them for this journey.

It is usually during this time that we see our parents become older adults and see their health begin to fail.

We are now far out to sea on this journey and the choppy waters and storms are a normal part of our lives now.

Many of us find early on this journey that without the help of God, the journey would be so much more than we could handle.

As I look back today, I am so thankful for my mom and dad and the help they always gave me so unselfishly during the time they spent with me preparing me for this sea of life adventure.

I also thank them for their faith in Jesus Christ and how they let  me know how important it was for me to ask him into my heart and always allow him to be a part of my life.

There is that sacred song called Without Him that comes to my mind at this time

Some of the words say:

Without Him I Could Do Nothing

                                        Without Him I’d Surely Fail

Without Him, I would be drifting

Like a Ship Without a Sail

Thanks Mom and Dad for being there for me and my brother and sisters and letting us all know that we did not have to be drifting on that ship without a sail.
