Have you ever tried A huge remodeling project? Judy and Peter Corbett buy a castle in Wales.

Gwydir Castle, which has suffered decades of indignaties, needs an owner to love and honor her.  Enter the Corbetts. lovers of history.  This true story details their funny and miraculous efforts, duly rewarded--eventually--to bring beauty and grace back to a centuries-old castle.

This tale includes romance, a couple of hauntings, and a visit from the Prince of Wales.  One of the most exciting revelations was that part of the castle--the dining room paneling--was purchased and dismantled by William Randolph Hearst, crated and sent to US, then ultimately willed to the New York Met Museum. The Corbetts begin a process of wheedling the Museum into returning some 26 boxes of ancient craftsmanship to Gwydir.

Judy's elegant metaphors and knack for spinning a yarn engage and transport the reader.  If you don't even like castles, you will enjoy the wit and humor here. Castles in the Air was one of the best books I read all summer--and I read over 80.
