Teach your children.

Color Blind

So how was your day?
I played with my brown friend today

I looked at her with dismay
Puzzled by what she had to say

My dear white child of mine
Do me a favor and be color blind

Close you eyes just for a moment
And tell me what you will see

Nothing that’s right
You only hear me

I will do the same
I only hear you
And I can not see

The only vision in my mind
Is someone who is kind
Just like you and me

We are all the same
My dear child of mine
The world needs to learn to be color blind

So the next time I ask you
So how was your day?
Then you can say
I played with my friend today

I really liked how this poem was prefaced by Teach Your Children. A wonderful poem, an excellent impartation.

My dear child of mine
