Use the power of human nature to sell your work!

Why did you come to this article? Are you reading this and wondering; where will it take me? If you are indeed still reading the answer is yes.

So sit back for a second and let me show you a great tool for not only marketing your work, but how you can market you.

First things first. It is my belief that a shy author is going to have a rough tough time of marketing and selling thier work. If you are indeed too shy for this then I might suggest stamp collecting.

You and only you can sell your book. The best way is to use human nature to get interest. Curiosity is a very powerful force. A force that is the mother of most of the inventions we enjoy today. It can also get us into trouble.

Use curiosity, learn the power. Here are some methods I use, and so far so good.

I have done the typical book signing event. I have posters and models of the ships in the novel, as well as my mug plastered across the table.  Okay fine, I got some sales. These sales were to folks who said to themselves, "Well I like submarines and action adventure, so I will take a look."

Great!  However on another day I was asked to do an impromptu signing. I had a torn bit of poster paper so I used a marker to write. "GET YOUR BOOK NOW!"  was I ever surprised when just about everyone who walked in the door came to the table. I did not give thier minds the chance to say, "Oh a sub book. Not interested. The curiosity caught them. I think the human mind likes puzzles, enjoys finding the unknown. These people knew nothing about the book or me but thier minds wanted more information, wanted to fill in the blanks. I sold 24 books at that event.

So I decided to try some other methods. I use Ebay often and each and every message I send or every payment I make I always sign it "D. Clayton Meadows, author of OF ICE AND STEEL."

Again most people have never met an author, Wow, now one just asked me about something I was selling? Who is this? Is he famous? What is his book about? They will tell friends about the encounter and again curiosity takes over. The mind begs for more.

At resturants leave your book's business card signed on the table.

Carry a copy of your book everywhere. You see someone reading a book, stop and ask them what they think of it and then move the conversation to the fact that you yourself have written a book.

I now even sign my checks, "Author of OF ICE AND STEEL.

Mention your authorship to everyone! Let the power of the curious mind work for you.

If you don't think it works, then why are you still reading this?
