Choosing particulars for your special day reveals your style as a couple. What type are you?

Take my own little quiz, based on nothing but personal observation!

1. In choosing  attendant attire, you decide

a. the bride's favorite color. Maybe pink....no, it's baby blue...or maybe yellow. The groom will pick the tux the month before the wedding.

b. classic colors and styles that even favor the pregnant matron of honor. Nothing outrageous on the tux. Attendants may choose their own shoes if they stick to a neutral color.

c. theme attire, like cowboy clothes or beachwear--not your bride white or formal groom.

c. The bridesmaids will wear fuschia dresses (or aqua) bought altogether at the same place on the same day; shoes must be dyed to match. All will have hair styled in an upsweep by your favorite stylist, wear clear nail polish and silver earrings. Don't even get me started on the groomsmen, but  even the minister and dad and ushers must rent a tux. And be over 5' 10." How dare they spoil your wedding photo by being squatty?

 2.  The cake

 a. Your mom goes with you while the groom plays ultimate frisbee.

 b. A bride's cake and a groom's cake, both designed to suit everyone's taste.

 c. The bride's cake has strawberry filling and the groom's is shaped like his favorite sport or hobby, job, or alma mater.

 d. Someone--your mom or fiance or dad--is about to faint. He could take out a mortgage on what this cake is costing.

3. The ceremony

a. Just the basic--whatever the minister usually does

b. You have some preferences and may insert personal notes into your vows. You consider the whole thing with great care, choosing songs that reflect your romance and commitment.

c. It doesn't matter as long as it's legal and short and no one is bored. You would have done the deed in a Vegas chapel, but Grandma would have been hurt dreadfully, so the wedding is a concession in itself.

d. You have reams of paper for the minister to review. The bride and groom may squabble for dominance, or one may dictate while the other gives in.

 3. How are you feeling about all this wedding preparation?

a. You wish you had eloped.

b. It's hectic, but will be worth it when the photos are in a nice album--something to cherish in coming years.

c. You're so glad, this is more fun that you thought, and won't everyone be surprised?

d. If your maid of honor gets pregnant or the flowers aren't just right, you'll have a stroke. You need a valium and the wedding is still a month away.

 {See results below}

I'm sure some more test questions will occur as I watch my middle daughter and her fiance prepare to be wed. Actually, they are a little B, a lot C, and a tad D as a couple!

Mostly “A” The Attention Deficit couple: are you sure you’re ready for this commitment? Hire a wedding coordinator, for sure, and attend some premarital classes.
Mostly “B” The mature couple: you two respect each other and your families and wedding guests. Your wedding will be an apt expression of your preparation for marriage.
Mostly “C” You’re a madcap, crazy couple, but it works for you. Try not to let it get of hand as other people are attending this event. Be sure you mesh well enough for a permanent commitment.
Mostly “D” You (either the bride or groom or both) don’t really want a marriage, you just want to control a lot of people. Rethink what this says about your potential as a couple. Imagine how you will choose a house, your first child's name, etc. Can you compromise? Maybe this wedding is a first step toward marriage.

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone

I met Jerome on a busy city street in Baltimore, Maryland, when he was forty-five years old. On that particular day, I was out and about, enjoying a much-needed day off from work. I wanted to purchase a sukiyaki sub. I parked my car in an area of
