This is an article focusing on how people I try and help have taught me how to enjoy my achievements in a much more healthy and satisfying way.

Yesterday I went to a Christmas party for people who have severe mental illness. It was to recognize their achievements ,  have a nice lunch, and dance. As I observed the awards when they were given. only four or five people clapped. I wondered why that was.

This was a joyful day and the people who received the awards didn't seem to mind  people not clapping. They were very proud of their awards and showed it to their friends. It seemed apparent that it was me who was bothered by people not clapping  the way I thought they should. As I reflected on this I realized that  this was my hang-up.

If I was to get award I would like it if many people clapped .The people at the party were happy just for their friends to acknowledge what they had achieved .Within themselves they knew they had made achievements.

I don't know about you, but they taught me something. Isn't it more important to have a few close friends know you have acheived some goals you have made and feeling satisfied with yourself with what you have achieved rather than alot of people clapping and praising you?

I am not saying that if you are acknowledged in a large crowd in some way not to enjoy that, but maybe not to expect it or feel like we need that. Oh yes, I learn alot from the people I try and serve. Maybe we all can.
