My book “The Missing Peace of a Heritage Puzzle” was awarded its fourth First Prize in Literary competitions. Each prize has been in a different genre. That is verrrrry unusual. This time it was judged the Best Book of the Year in the genre of Non-fiction Memoir. Come have a look.

***************************************

Can the memoirs of a non-famous person be meaningful? This poignant tale by Frank Koerner proves the point. A "must-read" book for anyone who enjoys a true , travel adventure  containing the most improbable happenstances about forebears, who came from "somewhere else".....whether that be from (in your case) Pennsylvania (USA) or Transylvania (Europe), Canton, Ohio or Canton, China. The book recounts actual events and revelations. It reads like a novel.

Frank Koerner sought to demystify the Sudetenland homeland of his parents. Their homeland “vanished” when he was a child. He journeyed to the former Czechoslovakia (the present Czech Republic's provinces of Bohemia and Moravia) and what he found was timeless and magically fascinating. This book recounts his discoveries, flavored by their intriguing happenstances. The vignettes are written with a commendable command of language and style. Mr. Koerner smartly balances personal emotions and reactions with historical information, while presenting a clear depiction of his trip overseas. Each recounted tale occurred during an excursion to that faraway land which no longer “exists.” Why is he drawn to a region from which people of his heritage are vengefully banned in perpetuity? His marvelous ability to depict a personal anecdote or memory to highlight its timelessness and universality is remarkable.

An appealing blend of personal anecdotes, culture and history is presented in describing a life-changing experience during an extraordinary journey in an otherwise ordinary life.

Accompany Frank on his trip as he discovers "the missing piece of his heritage puzzle" and relates its unique, historical connection to the Munich Agreement (1938), the events of World War II and their aftermath, and Longfellow's Evangeline (1755). See why all are still relevant in today's European Union (EU).
