What is the inspiration that fuels your creativity for literary fortitude?
The ability to pull deep from your soul to write is proof that latent substance is but a moment’s realization that in all of us the well indeed is full and ready to be tapped! There are many quirks in many a writer’s life where mere quips, quotes and anecdotes to any realm of reasoning just don’t tell the whole story to reach for that which would encourage them to go as deep. I wanted to throw this subject out there just to see what inspires you to write and how does creativity play a part? If you’re reading this, I’m sure you’ve often been inspired by some deep nagging angst that would have you wrestling with hard and critical question in your life as an accomplished writer in your own mind. Perhaps it’s a situation like mine where you’re looking for closure or reasonable sense of commitment to keep writing, and/or to justify objective reasons for innate fires to fuel optimism. As such, I know I’m no different than the average writer who want the passion to personify the craft, first and foremost...which when I first envisioned this subject for parallels in what truly inspires as it pertain to creating the space and spontaneity for the written word. Again, I will ask: Why do YOU write...and what is exactly your motivation for inspirational thought?
It may be just random images of subjective matters that are in the periphery of your mind, or perhaps coincidental events, or even harrowing life experiences that would inspire. We all have our crosses to bare and the things inherently that gives us the spark to allow imagery to be the fulcrum for imagination to express that which we would pull from that well. Just recently, one of my students pointedly asked me, “what is your one true inspiration to write?” I didn’t have to think twice, and answered readily that, “to be alone with my own mind is what makes me WANT to color my world with vivid colors that allow my canvas to extrapolate feelings that need to be expressed.” She looked at me an made a remark that I’d never forget. She said that it’s when inspiration and creativity is synergized together that makes for a oneness in spirit. How right she was! When we write, no matter the circumstances we want to create a semblance of accomplished value in our thoughts. Our imagination will allow us to work as long as it takes to get a good plot going, characters to drive it, and a setting to give the colors hues for good illustration. The projects we take on are ours and we create with a sense of purpose from starting points of pure elation, or intrigue, or even the simplicity of ambition to see idea manifest itself to lasting shelf life for our essays, manuscripts, books and other written fodder. If you’re like me you shouldn’t have problems writing from any of the aforementioned places of inspiration.
For you veteran authors -- you who have several books that you’ve written already in the marketplace should have much more to share in what has inspired you to stay the course and continue to write. Even aspiring writers should have something to say about what motivates them and how creativity is part of their mix. Sharing ideas and ideals should be apropos to us networking more and to me engaging for synergy to flow indelibly. On a personal note, I’m inspired by the sheer ability to just be able to express myself with what God gave me. I wanted to be considered good at what I did, even back as far as I could remember when I wrote without any structure to what I wrote. I just wrote! And I realize then, as I do now that my creative spirit is part of my being. It’s a MUST for me to write everyday. I do so trying to outdo what I wrote the day before. My muse is insatiable when it comes to the humanities in general and writing in particular. So as I tool tirelessly about my study reading, writing and allowing my knowledge to fuse and fuel my wisdom, words will forever be my inspriation and my creativity will not suffer for it.
