Local Navy Wife Publishes Poetry Book on Love and Marriage
Yolanda Gaston, a former resident of Bremerton, WA, has recently published a book on love and marriage. Married to a US Navy Sailor stationed on board the Emory S. Land, she has high hopes to share her experiences in an effort to save others from making the same mistakes she’s paid the price for.
“Season & Elements” is a collection of poems about love and the redemption of one’s true identity. Inside the book Yolanda shares personal insights about her own marriage of 10 years.
Back in 2007, she learned that she had a call to the ministry. While this was a joyous time, it was also a trying one. She immediately indulged into things that would soon backfire. Her marriage began to fail, and she ultimately found herself in the world of single parenting. After dating a while, she learned the life lessons that she now shares with everyone she knows.
In the book, she tells stories of how quickly she fell in “love” with one guy, and how quickly she jumped out of a relationship with another. Tales of 2AM phone calls and bitter thoughts all turned her heart back towards her first love…her ex-husband.
After some much needed soul-searching, her and her ex-husband developed a deeper friendship that they never shared before. It seems God has given them a second chance. Today, they are remarried and happier than ever. I guess some stories really are happily ever after!
