Yesterday for Mother's Day, I took my cockerpoo with me to see if we could make a match at HeartsforHounds, a non-profit rescue group in Long Beach, California.

While we walked many dogs we saw on their Internet page, the one who surprised us as stealing our hearts is a tiny little thing (10 pounds), a spaniel-terrier mix.

She's about a year old and bounces around the house.  She is so happy to have a home and to be loved.

I had seen an ad for a Goldendoodle, a dog I am very interested in. But the area it was coming from told me "puppy mill," and I will not pay $1000 for a dog whose mama has been mistreated. 

We love our new girl.  We hope the states will take action to shut down puppy mills.
