Gay activists in India welcome the film to encourage filmmakers to make more realistic gay and lesbian films.
Dunno Y...Na Jaane Kyun, the name of the gay-theme film is touted Bollywood's Brokeback Mountain. It is the first movie to portray explicit gay romance between two middle-class Mumbai men - the first male gay kiss in Indian film - and sharing a bed.
Stars Yuvraaj Parashar and Kapil Sharma, the director's brother. Gay activists in India welcome the film to encourage filmmakers to make more realistic gay and lesbian films, bringing about better understandings in the Indian audience.
The film was scheduled to be released in May, but was held up in editing as Director Sanjay Sharma dealt with government censors. John Dayal of the All Indian Christian Council told the network, "Practically all of the religious spectrum in India is united in its opposition to the celebration of homosexuality."
