An essay of how stress can be reduced and your life enhanced by turning to God.

April is stress awareness month.

Time and again we have been told that 80% of the people in the hospital are there as a result of stress related diseases. The word disease itself describes one who is ill at ease. In today’s fast paced world we find that stress and stress related diseases are at an all time high. Increased stress has all but obliterated the medical advances to increase longevity. We currently have two generations dying at the same time. To counter this phenomenon we must turn to God for help. Story after story exists of ordinary people overcoming or averting disease by reducing stress as a result of turning to God. Written accounts and guides are available to assist us today in conquering chronic stress.

The first and most obvious guide comes from the Bible. Modern day classics such Emmet Fox’s “Sermon on the Mount”, Cecil Rose’s “When Man listens”, Sam Shoemaker’s   “The Genius Of fellowship”, and Harold Begbie’s   “Life Changers” are but a few that advocates turning to God to Reduce stress. These time-tested classics provide straight forward principles, that when followed bring peace and serenity to one’s life. The essential principles advocated are to: get right with God, Clean house, and help others. Society found that in the lives of many God did what no medicines, Doctors, or psychologists could do.

Cecil Rose in his Book “When man listens” tells us that it is self will that got us in trouble. Harold Begbie in his Book “Life Changers” Tells us of a young man who was suffering from depression and was thought to be uncurable. In just one evening this young man had his life changed by confessing all to God and Frank Buchman. (Frank Buchman started the Oxford Group movement in early 1900’s)

Sam Shoemaker in his book “the genius of fellowship” Stated that “The Christian life consists in a current of spiritual electricity which runs through three angles of a triangle: myself, God, and other people” in his chapter on living in touch with people, he makes the comment that “The Evangelists forgot to tell me that before I could give it away, I must experience it myself”. After almost 20 years of being involved in the Church and not having experienced a personal God, Sam met Frank Buchman, who in Sam’s words said: “The two things I saw in Frank Buchman Were am immense joy in living and the sense of almost infinite leisure”. Again we find that just by spending one evening with Frank, Sam like others before him, experiences a personal God. His life changes and he goes on to help change the lives of a multitude of humans through God Consciousness, and working with others.

People of all faiths and in all walks of life can and will experience God by following the principles outlined in these life Altering books.

With faith

I remain truly yours
