A look into enjoying a story aimed at tweens when you are no longer a child. Where is the harm?

While filling out the form to categorize my book, Olivia's Magic Conch (which was predetermined to be read by tweens,) I had an epiphany. The fact is more adults are reading it and commenting on how much they enjoyed the story and the memories it brought forth from their youth spent at the shore. Telling me they purchased it for their grandchildren and they just wanted to read it first, I thought was rather odd because as a grandparent, I always check out the books I buy before I buy. You know what I mean? And that got me thinking. Now I truly believe the trigger here is the fact that the cover and title indicate the story will be based at and around the shore and that peaks their interest. A beach bum myself, I know well of the addiction. It is a calling; the sea speaking to your soul, and you can not deny or turn your back on it or anything pertaining to it. Which is a good thing because it was my objective to do just that. But are the young aware of this calling yet? Perhaps...perhaps not. We, the older generations certainly are or there would not be so many of us still sitting on the beach, gazing at the ocean as if lost in a trance. Finding total solace in the beauty and wonderment of the sea is for sure the addictive component.
Now I am seeing it all so clearly, because we,the future or present matriarchs and patriarchs of our families are really full of fun and enjoy happy stories and giggling and adventure with the element of fantasy and surprise. And an escape to a mystical place. In fact we are too young at heart, to miss out on anything that brings our wonderful memories to the surface.
I will take a stand and say hooray for all who believe in keeping every last vestage of ageless fun a part of their lives.. so if you think you are too old to read a fable... bring it on, Olivia's Magic Conch will prove you wrong.
