Ever wonder who all of those minor characters were that populated western after western after western? Those characters with few lines and a familiar face.

This will only apply to us older folks that used to go to the Saturday afternoon matinée at our neighborhood movie theaters to see two movies; usually, at least one being a “western” and the other, “Boston Blackie” or “Charlie Chan” or, now and then, “Sherlock Holmes”. Also there was always a serial and a newsreel and a cartoon (or two) and a “Three Stooges” or “Laurel and Hardy” short.

Movies way back then would cost all of fifty cents.

I loved the westerns and my friends and I fell into one of two categories: some "Gene Autry" and some "Roy Rogers". I was definitely a Roy Rogers kind of a kid.

Well, this clip has pictures and names -- so after 50 or so years -- say "Howdy" to some of those general store, saloon keeper, blacksmith mini-heroes from our youth.

You'll have a tugging at your heart for some of these faces that have gone from our youth... And you'll love the music, so be sure your sound is up.

I'm kind of in the "tweener" group here. Little exposure to Boston Blackie or Gene Autry. Yes on Roy and Sky King and the stooges and our gang. Patrick

Yes , I fondly remember going to the movies many years ago. I also liked Boston Blackie , Charlie Chan , The Shadow, Sky King and the many westerns that filled the silver screen. Sadly those days are forever gone Time has a way of changing tings . I think we've lost a lot of valuable life experiences... We stiil watch many old westerns on the Encore Channel... A good write!...M
