The second presidential debate, held on Tuesday, October 16th, was as engaging as many of us expected it to be. There was a lot of passion, energy, and, at time, tension. Unlike the previous debate, in this debate, a lot was said and a lot was answered to.
Going back to our three-game series of the NBA Finals analogy, it was clear that the reigning MVP and World Champion is not ready to become a former MVP and World Champion just yet. He is not ready to pack his bags just yet. Unlike the first game in which he passed up uncontested shots, he took both contested as well as uncontested shots in the second game. The MVP came to play. And so did the Mailman. Though it poured, the Mailman did not fail to do his job: Deliver the mail. There were times, however, when the Mailman missed some scoring opportunities. So did the reigning MVP. That is just the nature of the game. One cannot convert all the shots taken. Some will go in, some will rim out, and some of them may be blocked.
In the first debate, the CNN poll showed that Gov. Romney won the debate by a landslide, 72% to 20% (http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/pollingcenter/polls/3244). In this debate, the CNN poll showed that President Obama received 46% while the Gov. Romney received 39% (http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/pollingcenter/polls/3274).
The series is now tied 1–1. Looking forward to the next debate. Will it be windy? Will it be rainy? Will it be a nice weather? Who will come out on top?
