Who says New Yorkers aren't friendly? Not me! You should visit to see the hilly, wooded areas around lakes; farms surround the tidy, charming towns, and you will discover unexpected pockets of culture and education.

 
There's plenty to see and do in this town, especially for baseball fans. Little League fields replicate themselves in one area.  The Baseball Hall of Fame, Fenimore Art Museum, and Farmer's Museum offer American culture on different subjects.  Just walking the streets, seeing the sites, and inhaling the aromas is worthwhile, like strolling around a country fair. 
 
The scenery includes apple orchards, Victorian homes, and little shops with treats. We smelled hamburgers cooking at a place call Danny's Meat Market down from the Baseball Hall of Fame, and lo and behold! They gave us gluten-free buns! Udi's, no less. And they had home-made gluten-free scones made in the shop. I haven't had a hamburger in two years due to the fact that those who grill don't have special bread products.  But, hallelujah! This made my day complete. The burgers were angus, and they seemed lean and flavorful. I could taste smoke and black pepper. 
 
We happened to see a lot of famous baseball folks and hall-of-famers, and one or two who will never make it to the Hall. Namely, Pete Rose. My husband got an autograph and had a conversation with him. I won't divulge as it's not my tale to tell, but it was interesting. 
 
We stopped on the way out at Fly Creek Cider Mill.  It was another charming place with incredible eats. 
Members of our party had the coffee ice cream and apple pie ice cream. Servings consisted of  two creamy, generous scoops.

Thanks for your comment, Ronald! I hope to see the Finger Lakes area in the future. The typos I'll fix--I was writing this article on an Ipad while traversing some twisty roads.

Yes, Upstate New York as many wonderful places to visit with wonderful people. I spent some time in the Finger Lakes area and thoroughly enjoyed it. My brother just spent a week in Niagara.

I'm not sure what a, “snail town,” is, or, “I could toast snake [?] and black pepper.”

I've been on a gluten free diet for over a month. It was suggested by a paraplegic who said that he had removed a lot of the symptoms that he had (I have the same symptoms) by going on the diet. I see no changes yet.

I'm getting very tired of having tortillas instead of toast with my breakfast. However, the gluten free macaroni last night was just as good as durum wheat. So far, none of my symptoms have changed and I think that a doctor will tell me that I don't need to go on a gluten-free diet. My symptoms are probably just the result of aging and fifty years of spinal cord loss.

There's a fad every minute in United States. We are very fortunate to be so rich and foolish. Having tried the fad, I think I'll ditch it soon.
