A lot has happened this past year. There has been lots of change and that is not that unusual. I have had the opportunity to get to know Jimmy Hammond a lot better. In fact, we get together a couple of times a month at least. Jimmy wrote the forward to my book, The Winning Edge. He is a quality human being and I am a better person for knowing him.
I have enjoyed my three grand boys very much this year watching them play tennis, baseball, football and basketball. I love them very much.
My son, Stephen is working on his PHd at Oxford University in Oxford, England. He is working on his second year of a three year program. He will be home for three weeks arriving on December 18th. My daughter is working at the VA in Augusta as a Psychologist in a very stressful situation at times and in spite of that, she is doing well.
My wife and I have endured some real hardships this year that involved the loss of her brother as well as my best friend of 53 years, who died suddenly and I also lost a very special minister friend of mine that I've always described him as one of the most humble men that I've known.
All of these deaths came within a three month period and my best friend, Jimmy Ayers was perhaps the hardest one for me to handle but the sum of all three was almost too much to handle. If I didn't have a close relationship with God, I don't think I could have possibly dealt with these. I am glad I have him in my corner and I don't know how anyone could possibly go thru this without God.
As James Dobson said one time some years ago, if you are rocking along and doing fine in life and things are going well, hold on because a crisis is just around the corner.
My advice for you and yours is simple, hold on to God with everything you have. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
