How To Get Anybody To Hang On Your Every Word.

If you want to tell a story, you've got to keep your readers or listeners interests at all times. I have a subscription to Netflix, and many, many times I'll start watching a movie, and then turn it off because it's boring.

I suppose if I had to pay to see it in a theater, I would force myself to become interested. But if you're trying to sell books, or more importantly give a rousing speech, you want to keep people hanging on the edge of their seat.

Luckily, that's pretty easy. Many people try to create interest by content, but in reality the structure of the story is the driving force.

For example, if you were talking to a friend you'd just met, and were telling them a story about how you found a frog in your bathroom, they may find that interesting, and they may not. However, to make sure they were interested, it's a good idea to tell three or four stories at once.

All stories have within them several climaxes, including the buildup to the climax. The idea is to build up to the climax, and then just as it's about to be resolved, switch to another story, either the middle of one you'd already started, or a brand new one.

So long as you keep three or four stories or threads going at once, their mind won't wander. The conscious mind can't keep too much information at once. So you've got to make sure that your story takes up a lot of space.

If it doesn't their mind start wandering, which will translate to them as boredom. The funny thing is that the actual stories you are telling don't need to be filled with amazing and original content.

So long as you break them into bits, and keep the listener on their toes, you'll be fine.

This is also a great way to deliver hypnotic suggestions, and do so in a way that people will forget them. This is different then delivering subliminal messages (more here: http://mindpersuasion.com/subliminal-messages/).

Covert hypnosis is when you speak in a slightly different way, in the middle of a bunch of broken up stories. That way, you can move their emotions even more.
