Since the start of the Reagan administration, the U.S. government has silently and without fanfare taken about $7 trillion in “excess” dollars paid via payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare, and used those dollars to shore up many other programs—including wars, preparations for wars, and in flexing our military muscles while pursuing a nation building mindset hither and yon around the globe. Meanwhile, the boys and girls at the U.S. Treasury have logged those $7 trillion into their books as “intra governmental loans” and added them to the public debt of $13 trillion, while asserting that our new “national” debt now stands at $20 trillion. And with an air of complete innocence, many in Congress have lamented our new debt of $20 trillion as their number one issue for fixing. And how do they propose fixing it? By cutting and/or eliminating Social Security and Medicare.

In the domain of third grade logic, this is known as deceitful, dishonest, dufus dung. Yet we keep electing these hateful morons to continue working their evil upon us because…we seem to enjoy it as much as they love to smear it in our faces.

We still have more than a month until Donald Trump takes office, and already his administration is shaping up to be a rogues gallery of misfits, imbeciles, and ne’re-do-wells all hell bent on destroying life as we know it and returning us to those glorious days of yesteryear when our European settlers arrived and began to ravish the countryside with ignominious thrashing and onslaughts that cornered, corralled, and condemned everyone who looked different from them beginning with Native Americans, thence on to Blacks, then Mexicans, then Chinese, then Japanese, and now Muslims. And today as the Donald continues to insult China, perhaps they will be the source of easing our discontent when they unleash their curse upon us by invoking it with this bit of sardonic wit: “May you live in interesting times.”
