Dearest, this is so hard for me as a writer to do. I am much more accustomed to expressing myself through poetry, but tonight I felt the need to reach directly out to you, albeit in an indirect way. I know the chances of your seeing this are slim at best, but I hope that in putting my feelings into words I will assuage the profound loneliness that only your presence seems to ease.
What is it that has allowed you to circumvent my otherwise formidable defenses? Is it because so few men have ever shown interest in me as a woman? Is it because I have never known anyone with whom I share such a singular relationship, one born of friendship and respect? Could it be you harbor some small bit of affection for me? Some tiny reflection of the ruthlessly banked flames I feel for you?
I am perilously close to loving you and, frankly, the knowledge scares the hell out of me! I have been hurt so many times and you hold the power to destroy any lingering hope I have for a loving, fulfilling union. You belong to another and even though I know you are not happy with her I cannot accept a mere affair with you. I am just not made that way. So I'm going to walk away and try to let go of the fruitless dreams that have laid siege to my heart.
If you are ever free of her, and if what I believe you feel for me is real, I hope you will look for me. I won't wait for you but if we should one day find one another again my arms will welcome you home, to stay.
We are not monogamous. Hence our continual dilemma with the church/government rules for relationships that cause us so much pain. And then there is the territorial jealousy that crops up whenever there is some apparent loss of ownership.

Situations like this have sometimes turned out very good when the third person in the picture leaves. But that is the stuff of fairytales. If this is truly you, then "walk away" and seek another.
Run, don't walk, away from this guy. If he cheats on the person that he "belong to," he will cheat on you too.
