From Waterhole #3
Do Unto Others
By now many of you have listened to the soundtrack I shared from Waterhole#3, sung by Roger Miller, probably the best soundtrack ever recorded, or at least since recordings were recorded.
In it he sings many versus from The Code Of The West.
They are all very clever and good easy listening.
One however is a bit dubious.
Do Unto Others
Roger sings: “Do unto others before they…”
This area gets a bit fuzzy and he seems to mumble as though he was not sure what he wanted to say?
Now, where I come from, we said,
“Do unto others, before others do all over you!”
I think he wanted to sing something like that.
But he couldn’t…because that was, “The Code Of The East!”

Alas, in the mists of time I have forgotten that Dang Me, They Oughta Hang Me, Roger Miller sang those immortal words. I missed Roger by a hair one time when he was to perform at the Central Wisconsin State Fair and fell sick. Fortunately/unfortunately they sent a wee redhaired lass from Oklahoma, Reba McIntyre. The rest is history.
