On the line, the semi-pro named Bob, knocked Elvis down hard. Red wanted to fight him, but Elvis stopped him. Red asked to take Elvis’ place on the line, but Elvis said, “No, I can handle it.”

Elvis got knocked down hard many times. Finally, before the ball was snapped, Elvis told Bob, “Hit me on the right side, I’ve got less bruises there.” Bob laughed so hard, that Elvis could block him and stop his charge.

When the game ended, Bob had a talk with his three friends and then approached Elvis saying, “Thanks for the game, Elvis. No hard feelings. Right?”

“No hard feelings,” Elvis said. “Good luck with your season.”

“Say, Elvis,” Bob said. “Our wives are here. Could we introduce them to you and get some autographs?”

“Sure,” Elvis replied. Elvis happily signed and talked with the wives. Bob and his friends shook Elvis’ hand and left.

Jerry Schilling, who witnessed the whole thing, said, “I saw it happen many times. People that hated Elvis, once they met the real man, came away fans.”
