Homelessness in America, is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, is a damnable disgrace. It is fed and perpetuated by greed that favors the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Think for a moment of the billionaires in America, 735 of them according to Forbes with the top ten of them being worth $1.2 trillion and add to that the waste and extravagance that exist.
Over a half million people are experiencing homelessness - 66.7% is single individuals and 33.3% is families. According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), currently homeless veterans number around 40,000.

Charity begins at home. One's first responsibility is for the needs of one's own family - in this case one's nation. This means being generous to one's family or nation before helping others in a manner that is not afforded one's own family or nation.
The United States received more than 300,000 new asylum claimants and refugees in 2021 and is committed to accept up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees in 2022. These refugees would be better off remaining in Ukraine just as Germans and Japaneses are better off today because they surrendered during World War II. They remained in their own countries. Ukrainians should remain in Ukraine.
Money the United States has appropriated to remove Ukrainians from Ukraine should be appropriated to pay Reparations to African Americans whose ancestors were enslaved in America for 246 years and their descendants' subjection for nearly a hunded years to legal discrimination, Jim Crow, disfranchisement and the legacy of slavery.
Charity begins at home. Americans, are you listening? Cease and desist providing aid for reguees and non-American citizens that you refuse to provide for many American citizens who are living in poverty, including the homeless. Report by the UN special report on extreme poverty finds that 40 million people live in poverty in the United States with 18.5 million of them in extreme poverty.
Shame on you America for your dereliction of duty!

Our mayor, and otherwise kind and gentle man, has been moving whole homeless communities from one part of town to another to avoid the blight that it seems to reflect on wealthier communities. For those that are feeding the homeless, the city routinely checks them and requires them to have commercial kitchens or stops the fading altogether in hopes that the homeless will leave.
With a single stroke of legislation, the United States could end homelessness. But instead, continual privatization of government services serving everyone is moved to charities and businesses who are very vocal about how great they are but don't say that they discriminate who gets these services.
Artists like you and I, creating valuable literature for others to and enjoy, learn, get no compensation. A simple shifting of government payroll, like in the 1930s, from funding small businesses to funding individuals like you and I until we get to a point of commercial income from our works that is a living wage, is no simple way to end homelessness, criminalization of those unable to work for so many different reasons, and even the lazy, whose money will go back into the economy to keep it on an even keel.
